In modern day Iraq, two soldiers, an American and an Iraqi, find themselves in adjacent cells in a Baghdad prison.  Alone and confused about how they got there, they explore their situation, share their stories, and learn about one another and what led them to this place in their lives.  While their co-existence is far from simple, and while they find themselves relying on each other for survival, they begin to realize that they have a lot more in common than what their separate worlds have led them to believe.

Bill Meadows (played by Michael Constantine) drives his daughter, Elaine, and his two grandchildren, Benny (10) and Tim (5), to the local hospital where Elaine has a chemotherapy appointment. They are running late and, because the boys had been rowdy in the waiting room last week, Bill asks them to wait at a park across the street. He promises to be back in ten minutes and take them to the video arcade. Even though Elaine is a bit worried about the boys, Bill reassures her that everything will be fine. After all, he’ll only be gone for ten minutes…

Kate, a woman of Greek American decent, has followed family tradition and married another Greek American. She is a lawyer…he is an auto mechanic. He loves her to death…she feels out of place and trapped. The film takes place on the morning Kate discovers she is pregnant and decides to leave her husband.
